Here’s a little peek into some of my favorite things, just a fun way to help you get to know me beyond the work stuff. I believe relationships matter, and it’s always nice to share a bit of who we are. I’ve got more hobbies than I can keep track of and a serious love for all things “favorites.” So here are a few of mine… and I can’t wait to learn about yours too!
Since I was 14 years old I have been restoring old cars with my family. From my first car, a 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1, to my current project, helping my Dad work through a restoration of a 1959 Chevrolet Impala I am certainly not afraid to get down into it.
For the past 2 years my wife and I have been building out a mini-farm. I am not proclaiming to be a great grower (that is most definitely her superpower), but believe me when I say I can sure build. I have laid out over two football fields of PVC irrigation, hooked up a water well, built out a garden shed and many other supporting farming components. We are targeting 6 fruit trees, blueberries, blackberries, and a variety of veggies and OH YES... hot hot peppers!
Yes, believe it or not, there is a professional Air Hockey circuit! I’ve had the incredible opportunity to compete against amazing players from all over the world, including Russia, China, Brazil, England, the Czech Republic, Canada, and nearly every U.S. state. Air Hockey is an exhilerating sport that’s taken me across the country in the name of high-energy competition. My highest world ranking was #11, and I missed cracking the top 10 by one goal. Just one! (Still stings a little… ARG!)
Board games are hands-down my most passionate hobby. I genuinely believe some of the best examples of brilliant UX can be found in well-designed board games. I’m both a collector and an inventor, and there’s nothing quite like diving into the creative process, figuring out the mechanics, testing with real players, and experiencing those “aha!” moments that come with designing a game from scratch. The board game community is incredibly supportive, and it’s amazing to be surrounded by others who share the same creative highs and challenges.
